LOVEFiLM Instant - Available Content
LOVEFiLM Instant gives you instant access to around 6,200 titles including feature films and TV series. Along with many major Hollywood studios, LOVEFiLM also has an agreement with ITV and BBC Worldwide, allowing users to view popular TV series such as Spooks and Dr. Who.
This selection does not include new titles which have recently been released. LOVEFiLM refers to new releases as 'Box Office Titles' and they are not included with the LOVEFiLM Instant package. However, they can be found on the LOVEFiLM website under Pay Per View and LOVEFiLM Instant users can stream them online for an additional charge of either £2.49 or £3.49.
LOVEFiLM Review - Picture Quality
The picture quality on laptops, PC's and on portable devices with small screens, such as iPads and tablets is very good - similar quality to BBC iPlayer. On larger screens, again the picture quality is generally good, but LOVEFiLM Instant is not in High Defiton (HD) and the content isn't encoded with surround sound, so on a TV screen the home-cinema experience is slightly underwhelming when compared with Blu-ray or DVD.
The ability to view high quality streamed video largely depends on the speed and reliablitly of your internet connection. Video streaming requires a large amount of bandwidth so a fast broadband connection is essential, especially during peak times such as in the evening when a lot of us are online at the time.
Our advice is, if you can watch BBC iPlayer (non-HD content) without any connection issues, chances are you LOVEFiLM Instant will work okay. You also have the safety net of the 30 day free trial period so if things don't work out you might feel a little disappointed, but you won't be out of pocket.

Lovefilm Instant - Our Final Verdict
Great value for money and good for watching TV series
I think the biggest selling point for LOVEFiLM Instant is the incredibly low monthly price - there is certainly no cheaper way to legally watch films and TV series. I can see LOVEFiLM Instant being a big hit with students, iPad users, and people who are always on the move. So if you're looking for an affordable way to enjoy watching movies, and you aren't worried about seeing the latest releases as soon as they come out, then LOVEFiLM Instant really does tick all the boxes.
You can't beat by-post DVD & Blu-ray rental for watching films
For laptops and tablets, Lovefilm Instant is great, but if you intend to stream movies to a large TV screen, you really cannot beat the good old DVD/blu-ray rental service through the post. Compare Lovefilm Instant's 6,000 available titles to Lovefilm's full DVD/Blu-ray catalogue of over 70,000 films. Since Lovefilm includes unlimited online viewing as standard with most of it's by-post DVD rental packages, it is probably worth paying a bit more to get the best of both worlds - the convenience of Lovefilm Instant on the internet plus the quality and choice of the Lovefilm DVD Rental and Blu-ray disc rental service.
